FAQ’s

Q. What is a Cakeologist and who are they?

A Cakeologist is an individual who specialises in the creation and decoration of delicious cakes and desserts. Our team are made up of a number of specialist in-house Cakeologists who have acquired highly extensive experience making cakes, flowers and confectionary so you can rest assured that your cake will be produced to the highest standard.

Q. Why buy a hand-made celebration cake from us?

We can produce a completely unique and personalised cake that will reflect you, your celebration and impress your guests. Factory produced cakes simply cannot provide this extra design, care and attention. Every cake we make is unique to you. We discuss the requirements with you and take account of your ideas about what you want for your design, helping with ideas and suggestions when you need some cake inspiration.

Q. How much will I expect to pay for a cake?

All of our wedding and celebration cakes are designed to suit your personal style and requirements so the price is always different. To receive a quote, please send us an email or fill in the enquiry form on the contact page

Q. How do I order a cake?

We recommend a full consultation for all wedding cakes to discuss your requirements. For celebration cakes such as birthday cakes, children’s cakes, baby shower/christening cakes and corporate cakes please send us an email or fill in the enquiry form on the contact page

Q. Do you cater for different dietary requirements and allergies, such as egg-free and vegan cakes?

We cater for a wide variety of dietary requirements and specialise in egg-free cakes. We can make products that do not contain eggs, dairy, gluten, wheat, soya or nut ingredients. Here at The Cakeologists we believe in using only the freshest and finest quality ingredients for all of our products.

Q. How do I care for my cake?

Our cakes do not like being put in the refrigerator if they are covered in sugarpaste icing! Once you have received your cake, you can store it in a cool, dry place and out of direct sunlight. You can refrigerate or freeze fresh cream and buttercream cakes, especially for summer events or if the cake has been cut to preserve them. If you would like to keep any decorations such as sugar flowers or figurines, remove them from the cake and store in a container.

Q. How long do your cakes stay fresh?

Our cakes keep for about 3-4 days at room temperature and a little longer if you keep them in an air-tight container in the fridge once they have been cut to serve. Alternatively, we have been told by our customers that they keep brilliantly for about 3 months in the freezer.

Q. When should I order my wedding cake?

To avoid disappointment, wedding cakes should be ordered 4-6 months in advance, particularly for summer events. However, this is only a guide and sometimes we are able to accommodate last minute orders, therefore please send us an email or fill in the enquiry form on the contact page to find out.

Q. Do I have to choose something from your cake galleries?

No. Our wedding and celebration cake picture galleries are there to inspire you. Please let us know what ideas you have in mind and we will create a bespoke cake to suit your requirements.

Q. Can you deliver our wedding cake?

We can deliver our wedding and celebration cakes for an additional fee. Wedding cakes are personally delivered and also usually set up at the venue. Please send us an email or fill in the enquiry form on the contact page to receive a quote.

Q. How do we choose the design of our cake?

The size of the cake will depend on the number of guests you need to cater for. If your cake is being served as dessert, the size is going to be twice as big as the standard size if the cake is being served along other dessert items. When designing your cake, you need to consider the style and theme of the occasion and the personality of the individual(s) for whom the cake is being made. Photographs, magazine clippings, pieces of fabric, colour swatches etc. can all help when it comes to designing the cake.

With regards to wedding cakes, it’s a good idea to bring along any of the above to your consultation together with colour swatches and pictures of flowers, and pieces of fabric so we can incorporate one or more of the elements into your wedding cake.

Q. What flavours do you offer?

We offer an extensive choice of flavours and fillings for you to choose from. There is a list on the flavours page for you to look at. If you have any particular flavour in mind that is not there, please let us know and we will try our best to accommodate you.

Q. How do I pay for my cake?
